Fylde Council Bin Collection: Schedule, Dates & Calendar
Need to know whether it is grey-bin week or recycling week in St Annes, Lytham, Kirkham, Freckleton, Wrea Green or elsewhere in Fylde? Start with your own address. Fylde’s normal collection system alternates grey residual waste with blue and brown recycling, while subscribed green garden bins normally join the recycling week.
This guide covers the full 2026 system: collection dates, four bin colours, the 7am rule, missed bins, contamination, extra capacity, sack properties, flats, £39 green waste, batteries, the Autumn 2026 food-waste rollout, bulky waste, bank holidays and Lytham Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Quick Answer: Which Fylde Bins Go Out This Week?
Fylde normally uses an alternate-week collection system. One week your grey non-recyclable waste bin is emptied. The following week the blue recycling bin and brown paper/card bin are collected. A subscribed green garden bin normally goes out on that recycling week too.
Do not calculate the next date from another street. Sign in to Fylde’s Waste Portal and check the schedule registered to your property.

Fylde Food Waste Collection Rollout: Autumn 2026
Fylde is moving to a separate weekly household food-waste service, but the change is being introduced in phases rather than on one borough-wide date.
Summer 2026
Fylde began public engagement across St Annes, Lytham, Kirkham and other local communities to explain the new service.
Phase 1 letters
By September, the council states that letters have been delivered to Phase 1 households telling them that their new service will begin during Autumn 2026.
September caddy deliveries
Phase 1 households begin receiving the indoor and outdoor caddies and starter liners ahead of their first collection.
Autumn 2026
Weekly food collections begin for Phase 1 households according to the start information sent to their address.
Spring 2027
Some addresses in the current postcode checker are explicitly listed for a later Spring 2027 phase.
What Your New Fylde Food Waste Service Includes
5L Indoor Caddy
A compact light-grey kitchen caddy designed for worktop, under-sink or indoor-bin storage.
23L Outdoor Caddy
A larger lockable light-grey caddy presented at the front edge of the property on the household’s weekly food-waste day.
Food accepted
- Uneaten food and plate scrapings
- Dairy products, cheese and eggs
- Bread, cakes and pastries
- Raw and cooked meat
- Fish and bones
- Tea bags and coffee grounds
- Fruit and vegetables
- Peelings
- Rice, pasta, beans and grains
- Wet and dry pet food
How collection works
Food waste will be collected every week on your usual bin collection day once your household phase is active.
The material goes to anaerobic digestion where it can be used to generate renewable energy.
The new food service is included without an additional household collection charge.

Fylde’s 7am Rule — and the 6pm Night-Before Limit
Ready by 7am
Place the correct containers at the required collection point by 7am.
Front edge
Present at the front edge of the property unless collection access is only available from a rear street.
Not before 6pm
Fylde’s operating policy says household receptacles should not be put out before 6pm on the evening before collection.
Fylde Missed or Rejected Bin Checker
Fylde Missed Bin Rules: The 2-Working-Day Window
Eligible missed collection
- Correct container was due.
- It was in the correct location by 7am.
- There was clear access.
- Contents were not contaminated.
- The report is made within 2 working days.
Return target
Fylde’s domestic waste policy says the collection team aims to rectify a valid reported missed collection within two working days.
The normal missed-bin arrangement can be temporarily suspended during exceptional conditions such as severe weather or the Christmas/New Year period.
A Contaminated Fylde Recycling Bin Is Not a “Missed Bin”
Fylde’s policy separates an operationally missed collection from a container deliberately rejected because it contains the wrong material.
What happens
The collection crew can place a contamination sticker on the bin. Repeated contamination can also trigger follow-up communication from the council.
What you should do
Remove the incorrect material, dispose of it through the correct route and present the recycling container on its next normal collection date.
Extra Bags Beside Fylde Bins Are Not Normally Collected
Fylde operates a strict no-side-waste approach. Ordinary household rubbish should fit inside the grey bin with the lid closed.
Grey-bin side waste
Do not routinely leave additional black sacks beside the grey bin. The council links side waste with litter, vermin and seagull problems as well as increased collection risk.
Recycling side waste
Fylde’s current recycling guidance also says excess material should not simply be left alongside blue, brown or green bins.
If additional recycling capacity is genuinely required, order another approved recycling container.
Can You Get an Additional Grey Refuse Bin?
Large households
Households with five or more permanent residents can apply for additional refuse capacity.
Two or more children in nappies
Fylde’s policy separately identifies households with two or more children in nappies as a category that can apply.
Medical / exceptional waste
Exceptional non-clinical circumstances such as incontinence or other offensive household waste can also be assessed.
Fylde New and Replacement Bin Charges
| Request | Current charge | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| One wheeled bin | £41 | Applies to a new grey, green, blue or brown wheeled bin. |
| New property — grey, blue and brown set | £123 | Full standard collection set without paid garden container. |
| New property — grey, green, blue and brown | £164 | Four-container set; green collection still requires the separate garden-waste subscription. |
| Lost/damaged lid or wheels | £14.50 | Includes the component and fitting. |
Fylde Properties Without Wheelie Bins
A significant minority of Fylde properties use alternative containers because vehicle access or on-property bin storage makes normal wheelie bins impractical.
Alternative Collection System
Fylde’s current policy records around 1,875 hard-to-access or storage-limited properties using the sack system, compared with more than 37,000 wheelie-bin households.
Green refuse sacks
Approved sack properties receive weekly non-recyclable-waste collections using Fylde-issued green sacks.
The normal limit is two council green sacks per household. Additional ordinary black sacks are not collected.
Recycling alternatives
The green box replaces the blue wheeled-bin stream for glass, cans and accepted plastic containers.
The reusable blue bag replaces the brown-bin paper/card stream.
Flats and Multiple-Occupancy Properties
Larger communal refuse bins
Blocks of flats and similar developments can use communal bulk refuse bins such as 660-litre or 1100-litre containers.
Capacity calculation
Fylde’s policy normally bases communal non-recyclable capacity on around 240 litres per dwelling per fortnight.
Shared recycling
Communal developments can also receive shared recycling containers, with the final arrangement determined by the site’s dwelling count, storage and access.
Assisted Collections for Residents Who Cannot Move Their Bins
Households without an adult resident physically capable of moving the wheelie bins to the kerbside can apply for free assisted collection.
What the crew does
Once approved, the crew collects the agreed containers from the property, empties them and returns them after collection.
Individually assessed
Applications can be made online or in writing and are assessed according to the household’s circumstances.
Fylde Bulky Waste Collection Prices 2026
Fylde works with Furniture Matters / the Enveco-branded bulky service to collect household furniture, white goods and other qualifying large domestic items.
Collection setup
The service operates four days per week within Monday–Saturday, between 9am and 5pm, with morning or afternoon booking slots.
Collecting suitable furniture from inside the property is preferred because keeping it dry improves the chance of reuse.
Appliances
Appliances must be unplugged, disconnected and empty before the collection team arrives. The crew cannot disconnect them for you.
The service is for residential addresses, not commercial waste.
Paying a Private Rubbish Collector? Check Their Waste-Carriers Licence
Your responsibility does not necessarily end when an unknown person takes the rubbish away. Fylde reminds householders to check that waste carriers are properly registered.
Check registration
Ask to see waste-carrier registration before handing over the household waste.
Record the vehicle
Note the registration number and retain the collector’s contact details.
Keep paperwork
Obtain an invoice, receipt or waste-transfer documentation describing the waste and the company collecting it.
Fylde Bin Collections on Bank Holidays
Ordinary bank holidays
Fylde’s published domestic waste policy says normal refuse and recycling collections are maintained on bank holidays.
Do not automatically move your normal Monday collection to Tuesday unless the council specifically announces a change.
Christmas and New Year
The Christmas/New Year period is the main exception. Fylde can publish revised collection dates and temporarily alter the normal missed-bin arrangements.
Christmas Garden Waste and Real Christmas Trees
The paid green-waste service normally pauses for approximately two weeks over Christmas and New Year because relatively little garden waste is collected during this period.
Subscribed green bin
A real Christmas tree can be chopped into suitable pieces and placed into the green bin when garden collections resume, with the lid properly closed.
Other options
Fylde also traditionally publishes organised real-tree drop-off or charity-collection arrangements around Christmas/New Year. Check the current festive announcement because locations and dates change each year.
Lytham Household Waste Recycling Centre
For suitable household materials that cannot use Fylde’s kerbside collections, the local Lancashire County Council recycling centre is on Saltcotes Road in Lytham St Annes.
Peak-time congestion
The Saltcotes Road site is particularly busy on sunny weekends and bank holidays, when garden and DIY waste volumes rise.
Quieter-time tip
Lancashire County Council has suggested visiting before 11am or after 3pm where practical to reduce the likelihood of queues.
2026 improvements
Site-layout work in March 2026 created a separate skip-loading area to reduce closures during skip changes and help prevent traffic backing up on Saltcotes Road.
The centre is operated by Lancashire County Council rather than Fylde Council, so county-level rules apply to permits, vehicle restrictions and accepted materials.

Practical Fylde Bin Tips That Prevent Common Mistakes
Remember “Grey Alone”
Grey is normally the only main wheelie bin collected on refuse week. Blue, brown and paid green belong to the alternate week.
Keep blue and brown separate
Fylde uses two different dry-recycling streams. Do not put paper and cardboard in the blue bin merely because both containers are collected on the same day.
Look for the green sticker
Before reporting a missed garden collection, first make sure the authorised 2026/27 subscription sticker is fitted correctly.
Food caddy is address-specific
Do not begin using a new light-grey caddy because somebody on another Fylde street has started. Wait for your own phase instructions.
Avoid lunchtime phone queues
Fylde says its telephone lines are busiest between 12pm and 2pm. For a non-urgent enquiry, online self-service or another calling time may be quicker.
Lytham tip timing
If your schedule is flexible, arriving at Saltcotes Road before 11am or after 3pm can reduce the chance of joining the busiest queues.

Fylde Council Bin Collection FAQs
1. How do I check my exact Fylde Council bin collection day?
Use Fylde Council’s Digital Waste Portal, register your property and view the household collection calendar. This is safer than copying another street because you need both your normal weekday and your position in the alternate-week cycle.
2. Which Fylde bins are collected together?
Fylde normally collects the grey general-waste bin on one week. On the following week it collects the blue container-recycling bin and brown paper/card bin. A subscribed green garden-waste bin normally joins that recycling week.
3. What time should I put my Fylde bins out?
Household bins should be available at the required collection point by 7am. Fylde’s domestic policy also says they should not normally be put out earlier than 6pm on the evening before collection.
4. When does Fylde’s weekly food-waste collection start?
The service is being introduced in phases. Phase 1 households have been sent letters for an Autumn 2026 start and caddy deliveries begin from September. Some postcodes in the current checker are listed for Spring 2027, so residents should check their own address rather than assume one borough-wide start date.
5. How much is Fylde green garden waste collection in 2026/27?
The subscription costs £39 per 240-litre green bin for the service period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. It provides 25 fortnightly collections, with a two-week suspension over Christmas and New Year.
6. Can I leave extra black bags beside my grey bin?
No under the normal service. Fylde operates a no-side-waste policy. Household refuse should fit inside the grey bin and the lid should be fully closed. Households with qualifying large-family, nappy-related, medical or exceptional needs can apply for additional refuse capacity.
7. How long do I have to report a missed Fylde bin?
Fylde’s domestic waste policy says an eligible missed normal collection must be reported within two working days of the scheduled collection. The crew aims to rectify a valid report within two working days. Garden-waste subscribers are asked to report a missed green bin within one working day.
8. Do Fylde bin days change on bank holidays?
Ordinary bank holidays normally operate as usual under Fylde’s Alternate Week Collection policy. Christmas and New Year are the main exception, when revised dates can be published.
9. Where do household batteries go in Fylde?
Do not put them loose inside a bin. Place accepted household batteries in the Fylde battery bag or an appropriate clear bag and leave the bag on top of either the blue or brown recycling bin on collection day.
10. Where is Fylde’s local household recycling centre?
Lytham Household Waste Recycling Centre is on Saltcotes Road, Lytham St Annes, FY8 4LS. The current published opening hours are 9am to 5pm, seven days a week. Lancashire County Council has suggested visiting before 11am or after 3pm where possible to reduce peak-time queues.
