The main household service uses two alternating fortnightly streams. In simple terms, one week is black-bin week and the next is green-recycling week.

Wychavon’s existing FCC Environment waste contract runs until 31 March 2028. The council concluded that adding a separate food service early would not provide good value and could create procurement complications.

Wychavon’s Useful Black-Bin-Week Extra: Batteries, Electricals and Textiles
These materials travel on the same collection round as your black bin or black sacks, but they are kept separate from the residual waste.
Small electrical items
Small electrical/electronic items up to roughly 25cm × 15cm × 20cm can be placed on top of the black bin or beside an eligible sack collection.
Examples include kettles, toasters, hairdryers, phones, chargers, calculators, small radios and electric toothbrushes.
Batteries
Put used household batteries in a small clear plastic bag on top of the black bin or with the appropriate sack presentation.
Do not throw loose batteries into either wheelie bin.
Clean dry textiles
Clothing, bed sheets and towels can be placed beside the black bin in a securely closed carrier/plastic bag to keep them dry.
Do not put textiles loose inside the green recycling bin.

Your bin, sack or subscribed garden bin should be available by 7am on the scheduled day.
Property boundary
Present the container at the boundary of your home nearest the public highway or at another council-agreed point.

Routine excess rubbish beside the black bin is not collected. Wychavon’s Section 46 rules require ordinary residual waste to fit completely inside the approved bin with the lid closed.
