How to Reach the Editorial Team
Got a correction, a question, a press request, or a privacy enquiry? You’re in the right place. This page sets out the right channel for each kind of message and what to expect from us in response.
If your bin wasn’t collected, your garden-waste subscription hasn’t started, you’ve been charged for a missed bulky pickup, or you have a question about a fixed penalty notice — that needs your council, not us. We do not collect bins, run subscriptions, or have any access to council systems. Find your council on GOV.UK at gov.uk/find-local-council.
Pick the Right Subject Line
All inquiries go through one inbox: info@councilbincollection.org. Putting the right subject line on your message gets it to the right person fastest.

For any kind of inquiry, the more specific you can be, the faster we can help. A useful message usually includes:
- The page URL on councilbincollection.org/ you're referring to (if relevant)
- Your council name, if it’s a council-specific question
- What you expected to find or what you think is wrong
- If possible, a link to the council page that supports the correction
- A contact email so we can reply (we don’t share your email — see our Privacy Policy)
If you can include the council page that contradicts ours, we can verify and update without going through a search ourselves. That cuts the response time roughly in half.
What We Cannot Help With
| If you need… | Go to… |
|---|---|
| To report a missed collection | Your council’s online form or helpline (linked on every council page) — usually within 24-48 hours of the missed collection |
| To book a bulky-waste collection | Your council’s bulky-waste booking page |
| To sign up or renew garden waste | Your council’s garden-waste subscription page |
| To register for assisted collection | Your council’s assisted-collection application form |
| To pay or appeal a fixed penalty notice | Your council’s enforcement team — appeal routes are time-limited |
| To replace a damaged or stolen bin | Your council’s bin-replacement page (chargeable in most councils) |
| To report fly-tipping | Your council for incidents on public land; the landowner first for private land; the Environment Agency for waste-crime hotline cases |
| To complain about a council decision | The council’s complaints procedure first, then the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (England) or equivalent ombudsman in Scotland, Wales or NI |
| Free legal advice | Citizens Advice · for civil matters, also LawWorks and law centres |
| Data-protection complaints about a UK organisation | Information Commissioner’s Office |
How We Operate
councilbincollection.org/ is a digital-only publication. We don't have a physical office open to the public, don't accept walk-in visitors, and don't publish a postal address for general correspondence. Email is the way to reach us — that lets us respond to readers from anywhere in the UK and keeps overheads low so we can focus on the editorial work.
If a postal address is required for a specific legal or regulatory purpose (formal legal service that cannot be made by email), please email us first and we’ll provide the appropriate address.
What We Won’t Engage With
- Abusive, threatening or harassing messages — these are not acted on and may be reported to authorities where appropriate
- Bulk SEO outreach, link-insertion requests and “guest post” pitches that aren’t relevant to UK bin collection
- Requests to remove factual statements about a council that are accurate and properly sourced
- Pay-for-coverage offers from waste-collection contractors, recycling buyers or commercial waste-removal firms — see our Editorial Policy
- Generic marketing emails, sales pitches and unsolicited proposals not specific to our work
